End of Semester 1.

Here is an image of all of my work from semester 1, displayed for assessment. This work will now become something to build on and support my work towards a final collection in semester 2.

My Designs

Here are some of my designs. I have produced them all on Photoshop from my own art work which has been scanned into the computer and manipulated. I have used some mono print scans too because I wanted to experiment with the effect of combining fine print techniques with digitally built designs; as well as testing how much I could retain the hand painted quality of my art work. I don't consider these designs to be finished pieces as I have just been playing and experimenting as I have produced them. I feel that the colours need a lot of revising and the compositions are not true repeat layouts. Both of these aspects I will need to consider when building my final collection next semester.

Inspiration...

I am constantly looking at fabric and wallpaper surface designs while at work, so I am constantly being filled with inspiration when it comes to compositions. All of the designs we stock at work are contemporary and many of them have been released in this current season. It is important to also look at traditional designs as they show the most fundamental aspects of surface design layout.
Here are some of my favourite pieces which I feel have inspired my own work.
