During the past week I decided to work a little bit more on some hand painting. I did this because I decided I needed a few more objects to work with. This week I aim to concentrate on creating a number of new designs using these newly painted objects. I will mainly be working on samples for printed fabrics, but I also hope to produce one more wallpaper designs to complete the collection. The first of these three designs in inspired by Art Nouveau structures, as I described in my last post.

New Inspiration.
It has been pointed out to me that my newest designs have a certain Art Nouveau style, so I have decided to look at artists such as Charles Rennie Mackintosh along with Art Nouveau architecture, to give me some new inspiration and shapes to work towards.

Even more digital.
So far this week I have continued to work on my digital designs. I have been looking to 1960's fabric prints for inspiration, the ogee style pattern was very popular during this decade and I have tried to recreate this though my floral forms. Bellow are two examples of some 1960's designs I have been referencing. Following these are my designs.

Today I have produced these fabric designs. They are all built as block repeats and I have ensured that I have only used images that are not included within my other designs. I am considering producing a range of linear style designs as a spin off collection. I am pleased with the way these designs have turned out, but I will review the colours used within my linear design as the ones I have used are not well considered as this is just a test piece.

Today I am working on more refined designs. Here is a finalised version of my first design. I have tested this design by constructing it into a 52cm wide by 7ft drop template as this is the standard size for a drop of wallpaper. I have also produced this design in two colour ways, I really like how the black background makes the blues and purples stand out.

Back To Digital.
Tonight I have finally plucked up the courage to have a go at placing some of my designs into a design. I have managed to create an ogi style design by warping some paintings of branches and adding leaves and flower heads around to fill the space. The first image shows the built tile before I structured it into repeat. The shape I created was complex and it wasn't easy to structure into a repeat, because of this I am worried that this design does not work as a true repeat.
